Gran ‘S’ Sand

Gran 'S' Sand is a zircon, high-quality sand for precision investment casting use.

This premium zircon sand is engineered for use in backup coats and stucco applications where high thermal resistance and surface integrity are essential. With a typical particle size in the U.S. #60–#200 mesh range, Gran 'S' provides excellent coverage and embedment while maintaining shell permeability and strength. Its high specific gravity (~4.2 g/cm³), low thermal expansion, and melting point above 2200 °C make it ideal for resisting thermal shock and preventing metal penetration or reaction. Gran 'S' Sand is chemically stable and naturally high in zirconium silicate content (typically over 66% ZrO₂ + HfO₂), offering reliable performance in repeated shell firing and molten metal exposure.
